Following another record-breaking financial year, leading South West law firm Stephens Scown is celebrating the promotion of 21 colleagues, including four Partners, four Senior Associates, seven Associates, and six Senior Paralegals across a range of specialist areas from across the firm’s offices.
Promoted to Partner are Becky Davies, who also becomes specialist team lead for the Residential Property team, Amy Ralston from the Intellectual Property, Data Protection and Technology team, Dave Robbins from the Corporate team, and Tom Graham who is part of the Real Estate team’s specialist Rural subsector.
Talking about her promotion, Becky said, “This isn’t just from my efforts, but is testament to the support and guidance I have received since the day I joined. We’re a firm that invests in people and this very much reflects that; nobody gets there on their own”.
It’s a proud moment for Amy too. “Stephens Scown already has an excellent group of partners, and I am delighted to be joining them. Being part of a firm where colleagues care deeply about the business and our employee‑owned culture matters greatly to me – and as the first member of my family to go to university, this is a particularly meaningful moment!”
Dave added, “It’s further motivation to continue contributing to the Firm’s development. I want to do more work in helping build the Corporate team, and in doing so, help further build the Firm too.”
On his promotion, Tom said, “I’m delighted to be joining the partnership and am looking forward to continuing to grow our regional-heavyweight rural property team.”
Celebrating promotion to Senior Associate are Karen Wright from the Real Estate team, plus Benitia Knowles-Wright, Kirstin Sibley, and Harriet Wigmore who are all part of the Family team.
Moving up to Associate are Megan Allen, a member of the firm’s Inheritance and Trust Disputes team, Tara Hawthorn and Tom Jane from the Property Litigation team, alongside Tamsin Best, Megan Eaton, Tyler Richards, and Shavaun Womersley, who are members of the Family team.
Born out of Stephens Scown’s Career Pathways project, the firm has introduced a new Senior Paralegal role to recognise the level of experience held by some of the firm’s Paralegals, to enable development within the Paralegal group, and to add to Stephens Scown’s existing career progression and promotion routes.
The first group promoted to Senior Paralegal are Ed Bidder from the Family team, Emma Richardson from the Property Litigation team, Hannah Pratt and Janet Porter from the Private Client team, and Steph Wharmby and Becki Severn from the Real Estate team.
Commenting on the promotions, Managing Partner Richard Baker said, “Each year, announcing our promotions is a real highlight as we recognise the brilliant work being done across the Firm. One of the key factors that makes Stephens Scown such a great place to work is the people development on offer, and the importance we place on demonstrating the path to progressions for employees. Everyone promoted this year has made a real difference, and I’m delighted to see that being rewarded.”
These latest promotions come after the employee-owned, B Corp™ firm achieved its best year for financial results, while maintaining its position as a South West regional heavyweight doing outstanding work for clients and supporting its people with their career aspirations.
