Qualifying as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2009, Chris originally specialised in family law. However, he changed his specialism in 2013 and joined our Employment Team; subsequently re-training and achieving distinctions in Employment Law and The Practice of Employment Law in 2014.

Chris is now a senior associate and deals with the full range of employment queries and regularly advises clients on

  • disciplinary and grievance issues,
  • redundancies and reorganisations,
  • performance and sickness absence issues,
  • flexible working
  • helping individuals seek financial compensation from the Employment Tribunal for employees who have been unfairly dismissed or discriminated against; and
  • defending Employment Tribunal claims for employers for breach of contract, unfair dismissal and discrimination.

As a member of our popular HRExpress service, Chris has answered thousands of employment queries.

He regularly advises employees and employers on high value Settlement Agreements. He has worked on hundreds of employment contracts and staff policies, often drafting complex provisions for discretionary bonus arrangements and / or post-termination restrictions etc.

Working alongside our Corporate Team, Chris has provided employment advice on dozens of business acquisitions and enjoys helping clients navigate the complex world of the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2008.

Chris sits on the Board of Miracle Theatre, an innovative company producing a rich-mix of touring theatre at beautiful outdoor venues. With a strong gratitude for the beauty of Cornwall, Chris can often be strolling with his children on one of the many beautiful beaches. An avid gamer (and a bit of a geek) Chris always has one eye on the latest game or gadget on the market.
