Charlotte joined Stephens Scown in September 2022 and is a solicitor in our Employment team, having qualified into the team in December 2024.

Charlotte advises both employers and employees on a wide range of employment law matters, offering practical and strategic support that aligns with both legal compliance and ethical HR practices.

Her work includes:

  • Advising on and representing clients in employment tribunal claims, including unfair dismissal, disability discrimination, and other forms of workplace discrimination.
  • Negotiating and finalising settlement agreements with a focus on fairness and protecting the reputation of the client.
  • Providing day-to-day employment law and HR advice through our HRExpress service, helping businesses navigate issues confidently while fostering fair, respectful workplaces. This includes providing pragmatic and fair guidance on a wide range of matters such as sickness absence, holiday pay, disciplinary and grievance investigations, and redundancy consultation processes.
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts of employment, handbooks, and policies to ensure legal compliance and support positive workplace culture.
  • Advising on redundancy processes, ensuring procedural fairness and clear communication at every stage.
  • Guiding employers through disciplinary and grievance processes with a focus on integrity, transparency, and employee dignity.

Recent examples of work include:

  • Supporting clients in presenting claims to the tribunal for disability discrimination and unfair dismissal, as well as more complex claims including elements of sex discrimination.
  • Supporting clients in defending tribunal claims such as constructive unfair dismissal, discrimination, and whistleblowing.
  • Advising on complex individual redundancy consultation processes.
  • Assisting clients to implement up-to-date employment contracts and handbooks in light of upcoming changes in employment law.
  • Advising and supporting clients to achieve beneficial and fair settlement agreements.

Charlotte serves as Treasurer for the firm’s Charity Committee, helping to organise regular fundraising events as part of our Giving Back programme.

Outside of work she has been working towards fitness goals such as competing in Hyrox competitions and will soon start training for a half-marathon.
