operation and maintenance

Eden Sustainable is a specialist in solar with clients across the UK. When it was looking for energy legal advice, it wanted an advisor with in-depth industry knowledge and creativity. The energy team at Stephens Scown fitted the bill.

Stephens Scown has advised Eden Sustainable on a host of solar projects across the UK as well as its recent strategic funding partnership with AMP Clean Energy. Eden Sustainable will develop and finance solar projects, with a 40MW pipeline (15MW of it advanced), targeting around a £10m investment including SMEs, public sector, education, and listed companies.

Eden Sustainable is growing rapidly with seven members of staff, which could increase to 10 within six months.

A team of specialists from Stephens Scown, including partner Justin Butt, have advised Eden Sustainable for over a year. Justin says:

“Eden Sustainable shows how healthy the solar industry in the UK is right now. Despite the end of the Feed-in Tariff, Eden’s business model shows the potential there is in the commercial and industrial solar sectors.”

Scott Burrows, managing director of Eden Sustainable, is complimentary of the service he has received from Stephens Scown:

“I’ve met a wide range of law firms, from some of the biggest to the smallest, so I’ve got a feel for what I’m looking for. Stephens Scown’s energy team are specialists in this field. Justin and the team are always on the end of the phone and I particularly appreciate their real estate and renewables industry knowledge and the way they help us find creative solutions whilst ensuring our projects are bankable.”

Eden Sustainable’s profits feed into the Pickwell Foundation, which funds projects to support action on climate change and to help displaced people.
