Simon Morris

Partner

Simon is an experienced partner in the corporate team in Exeter, providing general advice to businesses such as investments and funding, high value supply contracts, company sales and purchases and outsourcing.

Simon has a BSc combined honours degree in Oceanography and Marine Biology from Southampton University, and gained a postgraduate diploma in law and a postgraduate diploma in legal practice from Exeter University.  Simon also has a postgraduate diploma in the Mechanics of Project Finance gained from Middlesex University (in conjunction with the International Faculty of Finance).

Simon has previously worked for both Osborne Clarke LLP and DAC Beachcroft LLP, together with in house roles at Lloyds Bank plc and Wincanton plc.

Simon’s commercial experience includes advising on outsourcing agreements in the financial, logistics, health and IT sectors, advising on high value supply contracts, bespoke contractual joint ventures, as well as the supply of goods and services.

Simon’s corporate experience includes providing advice to individuals and businesses on mergers and acquisitions, demergers, group reorganisations, general company law, equity investment, shareholders’ agreements, articles of association and project finance.

Simon focuses on a number of sectors, including food and drink, leisure and tourism and energy.

His recent work includes advising:

  • a national food supplier on a £24 million long term supply contract
  • a service provider on back office and delivery outsourcing agreements with national customers
  • a large plant hire company on its terms and conditions
  • a private equity purchaser on the purchase of a tin manufacturing company from a national enterprise
  • the seller on a management buyout of an electronics component company
  • a cider making company on the purchase of business assets and brands
  • the borrower in relation to the £19 million re-financing of a wind farm in Scotland
  • the lender in relation to a £2 million project financing of a wind farm in Gloucester
  • the overseas purchaser on the purchase of a specialist medical device company for £8.5 million
  • a NYSE group company on the purchase of a portfolio of solar farms
  • the purchaser on the purchase of a manufacturing group of companies
  • a bank on a £3.6 million funding of a solar farm in the south west
  • a manufacturing and recycling company on a £7.5 million equity investment

Simon enjoys sport climbing and general fitness and spending time with his young family. In his spare time he enjoys watching rugby and playing the guitar.
