Jessica is a solicitor in the Exeter IP/IT team. Jessica qualified in April 2015 and has specialised in intellectual property and information technology law since then.

Jessica studied Criminology and Sociology (BscEcon) at Cardiff University. Jessica then completed the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at Bristol Law School.

Jessica’s recent experience and expertise includes:

  • Conducting IP Audits to identify the IP created by a business and advice on strategy to protect and effectively commercially exploit those rights
  • Negotiation and drafting of IP focused commercial agreements such as sale and licence agreements and franchise agreements
  • Copyright and moral right advice – both contentious and non-contentious
  • Advice on confidentiality issues
  • Advice on brand protection and trade mark strategy, both in the UK and overseas
  • Advice on design and patent protection
  • Legal, practical and strategic advice on working with third parties and the impact on a business’ IP assets
  • Consumer Rights Act advice and creation of online terms of sale for compliance
  • Advice on implications of use of open source code
  • Software development and licensing agreements
  • Drafting and advising on IT contracts such as Software as a Service Agreements and End User Licence Agreements

Jessica works with clients (to include businesses and individuals) of all sizes across a range of sectors and industries and has worked with retail, technology, manufacturing, marine, healthcare, professional services and charity clients.

Jessica has been a guest speaker at a number of events, and most recently was a guest lecturer for the University of Exeter’s Business School. Jessica also volunteers for Young Enterprise Devon.

Outside of work Jessica enjoys swimming, travelling and exploring the Devon and Cornwall beaches and countryside.
