Gillian Mably


Gillian is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives with over 20 years of experience working in residential property.  She studied at Cornwall Business School and passed what are equivalent now to Level 6 CILEX exams in Land Law, Conveyancing Practice and European Law.

Gillian’s works 100% on residential matters including residential property sales, purchases, re-mortgages, transfer of equity, shared-ownership transactions, assents, first registrations of title, applications for possessory title in adverse possession matters,  and reconstruction of title where the deeds have been lost.

She has worked on over 900 residential property matters during her time at Stephens Scown.

Her work includes:

  • assisting clients with their sale by public auction property by drafting the contract and transfer, producing the auction pack and after a successful auction, completing the sale on behalf of the clients
  • helping with the purchase of a new-build leasehold property for a young couple who had contributed in unequal financial shares to the purchase costs, and advising on the need for a Declaration of Trust Deed to protect their respective interest in the property.
  • reconstructing the title for a property where the title deeds had been lost and dealing with the sale on behalf of the Executors of an Estate.
  • assisting clients with the purchase of an investment property which had an existing tenant who was a friend of the seller and had no written tenancy agreement with her. The tenant entered into an ASTA with the new proprietors on completion of their purchase.

In her spare time she likes to walk, swim, garden and spend time with her grandchildren.
