Winners in 2024, and joint winners in 2023, Stephens Scown is aiming to become triple winners at the Exeter Living Awards 2025.
Stephens Scown shortlisted in the categories of Legal & Financial, and Community
A highlight in the city’s business calendar, the prestigious awards are fiercely competitive and attract interest from across the city and surrounding area, with companies entering one of the 15 categories featured.
This year, Stephens Scown has been shortlisted in the categories of Legal & Financial, and Community, with the winners to be selected by a panel of independent and impartial judges. Each nomination recognises one of the firm’s core values, of doing great legal work, and having a positive impact on the communities in which it operates.
The Legal & Financial category is for companies which have excelled in the past year. With another record-breaking financial year and a place on the Sunday Times Best Place to Work list for 2025, the firm has certainly had a stellar 12 months.
The Community award flags the contribution of companies and organisations which have improved Exeter, whether via a new initiative to make the city better, a commitment to helping develop others, or notable charitable work. Thanks to the firm’s Charity Committees and volunteer opportunities, 2024-25 has again shown that Stephens Scown has played its part in making a difference.
Standing Out
Each year, the awards grow in popularity, with more than 270 nominations submitted this time around. The awards team said, “There were dozens of inspiring examples of how businesses have adapted to grow, so it was incredibly tough to whittle it down to a shortlist of finalists.”
Talking about the firm’s shortlisting success, Managing Partner Richard Baker said, “Being shortlisted in these two categories is a terrific achievement. Despite being winners or joint winners in the last two years, we’ve shown that we’re not a company that rests on its laurels and has continued to grow and improve over the last year. It’s further recognition for the quality of our work and the support we give to our clients.
“Our nomination in the Community category also demonstrates that having a positive impact in our local community is also an important part of what makes Stephens Scown such a special place to work. I’m proud to see us feature in categories which are both key components in the firm’s offer.”
With the awards increasing in reputation, this year’s event will be held at Sandy Park, with up to 550 guests expected to attend. It’s a night that promises to be filled with glitz, glamour, and to celebrate the best of Exeter’s business community.
