With confirmation of the shortlists made yesterday, the firm has been recognised in three categories in this year’s LexisNexis Legal Awards 2026.
Firmwide Success
Highlighted both for the impact of its work, teams across the business, and for its emphasis on caring for its people, the awards are a real statement of Stephens Scown’s place as a regional heavyweight with a national reach.
The categories are Case of the Year for the firm’s work in the Thatchers v Aldi case, Employment Law Team of the Year, and the Wellbeing Award. These awards acknowledge those legal businesses from across the country that are making a difference, and to be placed in these three categories is a real statement on the firm’s work.
Being nominated for Case of the Year demonstrates the effect of the Thatchers win, which featured heavily in media across the globe and has set a precedent for brand owners. The work of the Intellectual Property, Data Protection and Technology and Dispute Resolution teams in securing victory is testament to their expertise, and vindicates the faith placed in them by Thatchers as trusted legal advisors.
Our Employment team is recognised for the range of services and specialisms on offer. Whether that’s on-site training and support, the firm’s HRExpress service, specialist immigration support, or its extensive knowledge of regulatory matters, the growth of the team doing high-quality work for high-profile clients has been rewarded with the shortlisting.
Finally, the Wellbeing Award is a demonstration of the work done to support employees across their work and personal lives. It shines a light on the firm’s employee-owned status, the information available via the HR team, and the part played by the Trustee team in representing the interests of employees.
A National Stage
The awards are set to take place on 16 April in London where the firm will find itself among businesses from across the UK, proudly alongside the best and most innovative legal organisations in the sector.
Each one of the nominations also marks the firm’s progress over the last 12 months, and the continued excellence of both its legal work, its teams, and its care for the wellbeing of employees.
Speaking about the nominations, Managing Partner Richard Baker said, “It’s been another great year for the firm, and fantastic to see that recognised by LexisNexis with these three shortlistings. It’s clear that we are viewed as a real heavyweight whose work is seen as making a difference for our clients on a national stage.
“They are validation for the outstanding client service provided, and for the way that we ensure employees are supported to do their best work. We can be proud of what we’ve achieved in making Stephens Scown a great place to work and to do business.”
