Timothy joined Stephens Scown in September 2026, working as a Senior Associate in the Private Client team’s Wealth Protection sector.  

Since qualifying in 2017, Timothy has gained extensive experience working in all areas of private client law across a high-net-worth client base on often complex matters with a practical and friendly approach. Throughout his career he has advised individuals on estate planning, Wills, probate, inheritance tax and capital gains tax.  

He regularly works in highly collaborative teams of advisors for individuals, business and farm owners on wealth protection and succession planning.  

Timothy advises on: 

• Estate planning and mitigation of inheritance tax and capital gains tax 

• Preparation of Wills  

• Preparation of lifetime trusts 

• Probate and Estate administration for high value and complex estates  

• Estates with cross border succession issues 

• Lasting Powers of Attorney 

Recent examples of his work include: 

• Preparation of sequential pre-sale discretionary trusts to receive shares of a business prior to a vendor initiated MBO by its staff, including children, for the vendor’s tax and succession planning.  

• Preparation of lifetime discretionary trusts to receive gifts of a portfolio of investment properties to benefit a client’s descendants, for tax and asset protection planning.  

• Preparation of complex Wills and Letters of Wishes for high-net-worth business and landowner clients to maximise possible inheritance tax reliefs with notable business succession concerns and associated lifetime planning. 

• Advice on an historic family trust to allow beneficiaries to remain in family home and for the release of separate assets to other beneficiaries to facilitate a family agreement. 

• Obtaining a re-sealed grant of probate of a foreign domicile Will to enable its executors to deal with UK sited estate assets and complete historic tax reporting compliance. 

Away from work, Tim is occupied with his young family but can also be found out in the great outdoors and helping run sessions at his local surf lifesaving club.
