
Philip joined Stephens Scown in April 2026 and is a Partner in the Real Estate team’s specialist Commercial Property subsector.
Since qualifying in 2009, he has gained extensive experience in dealing with a variety of of real estate matters which include:
- Landlord and tenant matters with a focus on retail
- Industrial and corporate occupier work
- Acting for commercial developers
Examples of his work include:
- Leading on multiple £million+ portfolio refinances for property investor clients, with property assets spanning full range of use classes;
- Advising landowners on the terms of various complex option agreements and promotion agreements involving land earmarked for battery storage purposes;
- Track record of leading on the property elements of wider corporate sales and purchases, including leading teams on complex due diligence processes;
- Acting for the seller of a large plot of land to a golf club for development as a new driving range facility, including detailed planning considerations and overage arrangements.
- Advising a family business on the acquisition of a multi-million-pound holiday park; and
- Advising an alternative investment fund on its acquisition of a nationwide portfolio of commercial real estate assets.
Philip’s work has led him to be cited in the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, the definitive guides for the legal sector.
Outside of work, his favourite pastime is being with his family and watching his daughter grow up. Philip is a keen sportsman, enjoying playing football and golf, as well as enjoying watching rugby and cricket. While he is yet to introduce his daughter to any of these hobbies, he expects his time to evaporate when he does.
