Lexie joined Stephens Scown in December 2019 and works as a solicitor in the Employment team.

Having studied History at the University of Exeter, she became the firm’s first solicitor apprentice. Undertaking a law degree with the University of Law, she graduated in 2025 with a first-class honours degree and was chosen to be the student voice at the graduation ceremony. Lexie qualified via the SQE route, in the highest quintile for both SQE1 and SQE2.

Lexie acts for both employees and employers, which provides her with a well-rounded perspective on the different types of challenges that might arise and the various solutions that could be applied to employment issues.

In her current role, Lexie’s areas of expertise across litigation and employment matters include:

  • Resolving disputes between businesses and employees both before and during Employment Tribunal cases;
  • Drafting settlement agreements on behalf of employer clients and advising on the terms of the agreement;
  • Securing settlements for employees seeking to exit a business and advising them on the terms of the agreement;
  • Assisting employers in handling both grievance and disciplinary proceedings;
  • Carrying out Employment legal research;
  • Handling matters relating to ethical HR; and
  • Delivering training on sexual harassment in response to recent legal changes in this area.

Some examples of her work include:

  • Provided support and advice on a grievance raised by an employee on long-term sick leave and negotiated an exit with the employee which had a commercial benefit to the business.
  • Supported an employer in resolving a claim raised through ACAS early conciliation and negotiated a settlement which culminated in the employee dropping their Employment Tribunal claim.
  • Provided advice on the Working Time Regulations and its impact on employees on peripatetic contracts.
  • Assisted on a redundancy consultation for an employer.
  • Provided employment support on a hotel sale.
  • Represented a client (acting in place of his recently deceased wife) in a successful claim for unfair dismissal and disability discrimination.
  • Delivered sexual harassment training to an education provider in Cornwall.

With an extensive background across multiple areas of law during her apprenticeship (including Corporate and Commercial Dispute Resolution), Lexie plays an important part in the firm’s Commercial Services Offering (CSO) group. The group represents teams which come together for shared client needs and to provide support across a range of sectors. This has included Lexie collaborating on corporate transactions from her employment law perspective.

Lexie was named as one of the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce’s 30 Under 30 class of 2023 and again in 2025. She was the recipient of the Trainee Lawyer of the Year at the Cornwall Law Society Awards 2023 and was named as Cornwall Chamber of Commerce’s Young Businessperson of the Year 2023.

She is Head Coach of the England Touch Rugby Senior Mixed Team, assistant coach for the England Girls 18s Touch Rugby Team, head coach for Southwest Saxons Women’s Open and head coach for Falmouth Ladies XV and Cornwall Girls 18s.

Outside of work Lexie spends a vast proportion of her time coaching and playing touch rugby. Lexie is a Harlequins fan and can often be found taking photos on coastal walks. She was named UK Coaching’s ‘Young Coach of the Year’ at the 2022 UK Coaching Awards and is a proud winner of a World Cup silver medal from the 2024 Touch Rugby World Cup.
