Jo joined Stephens Scown in May 2026, working as a senior property consultant in the Commercial Property team.

Since qualifying in 2009, she has developed a specialism in Self-Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs) and Small Self-Administered Scheme (SSAS) property pension work. This niche experience means clients from across the country seek her guidance on intricate transactions, particularly those involving joint ownership and lending. One notable example of this type of work was a refinance she dealt with of two industrial units which were jointly owned by a SIPP and a couple. It involved borrowing on behalf of the SIPP only and prior to the re-finance completing also required an in-specie transfer to transfer part of the property to another SIPP provider. This was a particularly complex transaction however Jo’s passion and experience for this type of work meant that the client achieved their desired outcome. .

Her dedication and proactive approach ensuring that clients feel valued means that clients can rely on matters progressing without unnecessary delays.

Jo also advises on freehold and leasehold acquisitions, disposals and landlord and tenant matters

Jo has been ranked as a Rising Star in the Legal 500 guide, one of the world’s leading legal directories, for her work and recognition of her ability.

Outside of work, Jo loves hiking and enjoys long walks over the Purbecks with family with a stop off at a local pub followed by a game of Uno. Jo is a keen runner, with early mornings her favourite time of the day to run.
