Jo joined Stephens Scown in January 2024 as a Chartered Legal Executive in the Private Client team dealing with estate administration and other private client affairs.

Some of the work that Jo undertakes, and examples of her work include:

• Dealing with the administration of a high value estate including claims for agricultural property relief to mitigate inheritance tax and negotiating with HMRC.
• Advising upon, and preparing, deeds of appropriation and deeds of variation.
• Preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney and Wills.
• Dealing with contested Wills and contentious probate matters.

She has also led a successful challenge to claim by HMRC for payment of additional inheritance tax on the sale of assets and advising in respect of a deed of variation to maximise the use of tax allowances and relief.

Outside of work, Jo enjoys spending time with her family, gig rowing, horse riding, and dog walking.
