Susan is a Commercial Property Solicitor who specialises in Rural/Agricultural work. She joined Stephens Scown in 2021 having previously worked at Coodes LLP and Hine Downing.
Susan advises clients on matters relating to Commercial Property (both leasehold and freehold) and Rural/Agricultural which includes:
- Farm sales and purchases;
- Farming partnership, family arrangements and succession;
- Finance and funding arrangements;
- Farm Business tenancies;
- Complex land interests;
- Overage agreements.
Examples of Susan's recent work include:
Purchase of a Cornish Nurseries to include purchasing part of the property into their SASS;
Purchase of a local tourism attraction business and property which had a complicated legal title which involved an adverse possession claim, and a defective tenancy agreement for the café on site;
Purchase of a rural property with planning permission for development of barns and simultaneous subsale of part. Also included difficulties with access arrangements and visibility splays;
Sale of a caravan and camping site to include the business. The title was complex as it had historically been bought in several parts and included rights of way and mining related issues.
Susan is a Trustee of Southerly Point MAT and Chair of the Finance Committee.
Outside of work she enjoys running, hiking and watching films.
