Join us for a round-up of employment law developments for employers under the new Labour government. We will outline their election manifesto promises and the policies confirmed since coming into office. We will also review the practical impact on employers of these upcoming changes.

We will consider the following proposed key changes:
• Day 1 employment rights for workers including removal of unfair dismissal qualifying periods
• Ban on “exploitative” zero hours contracts and right to an average hours contract
• Family friendly reforms including protection in pregnancy dismissals and paid bereavement leave
• National Minimum Wage, removal of wage bands and increased costs for employers
• Employment status, proposal to remove “employee” status and reduce to two tiers (worker and self-employed only)
• Protection from harassment, new legal duty to protect employees and Labour’s plans to strengthen this
• New equal pay rights and pay gap reporting obligations to include race and disability
• Trade unions and industrial action, implications of reforms for all employers
• Extension of time limits for bringing tribunal claims from 3 to 6 months
• Menopause action plans, employers to produce these and support staff through menopause
• Immigration, an update on Labour policy and aims
