Gavin Poole, who is one of the best known and most respected corporate specialists in Cornwall, joins Stephens Scown LLP from Foot Anstey LLP, where he has been a partner since 2008.

Gavin, who started his career in London, advises businesses on everything from acquisitions and sales to restructuring, financing, governance and partnerships.

Commenting on his appointment Gavin said: “I have had a wonderful career with Foot Anstey but I felt that the time was right for a new challenge. Stephens Scown’s focus on investing in Cornwall and emphasis on client service fits perfectly with my own aims.

“Moving back to west Cornwall with my family over 15 years ago has been one of the best decisions I have made, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to the region by advising and supporting some of the most exciting businesses in the UK, that are flourishing right here in Cornwall.”

Stephens Scown’s managing partner Robert Camp added: “Our corporate team has been going from strength to strength, doubling its workload in the last year. Gavin’s decision to join us gives us another fantastic boost and adds even more expertise to our impressive team. We have been a great admirer of the work he and his team have done at Foot Anstey and are delighted that he has joined us.”

Gavin will be based at Stephens Scown’s Truro office.

Stephens Scown has been growing its corporate practice steadily over the last few years, with a number of strategic hires including partners Christian Wilson and Robert Brightley. The firm’s corporate clients range from major international mining businesses like Imerys to farming clients such as Trewithen Dairy.
