As champions of all things Cornish, it is great to see that Cornwall is making waves in the world of professional cycling.

Stephens Scown is one of the sponsors of Saint Piran, Cornwall’s first elite cycling team. The team has been experiencing a great deal of success, most recently in the HSBC Road Series.

Saint Piran rider Steve Lampier took the lead in the series after three races. After a tricky couple of races the team has battled hard and Steve is currently sixth in the overall HSBC Road Series standings. The team is sixth in the team standings and is the top ranked Elite team.

The 10 race series is at the half way point and we are excited to find out what unfolds at the next race on 7th July – the Beaumont Trophy in Northumberland.

Stephens Scown’s Michael Beadel (who is a keen amateur cyclist himself) explains why the firm is supporting Saint Piran: “The team is doing something extraordinary. It is giving talented Cornish riders the chance to compete on a national stage. Saint Piran is also hugely ambitious and plans to compete as an accredited continental professional squad in the world’s biggest races by 2023. We share the team’s sense of pride in Cornwall and are ambitious for our own business, so there is a great fit between us.”
