Tyler is an Associate in the Family team, specialising in the financial aspects of divorce.

Working with clients across a broad range of financial matters, to include high-value and complex disputes involving substantial business interests, discretionary trusts, inherited wealth and public sector pensions. She has developed particular expertise in cases involving owner-managed and family businesses, helping clients navigate the unique challenges that can arise in that context.

Tyler combines strong technical knowledge with a practical and strategic approach to achieving the best possible outcomes for her clients. Whilst she has extensive experience of financial remedy proceedings, she is also a strong advocate of the benefits of non-court dispute resolution, helping clients resolve matters wherever possible through negotiation and other alternative processes in a cost-effective way and without unnecessary conflict.

As a member a member of Resolution, Tyler supports the organisation’s commitment to resolving family disputes in a constructive and non-confrontational manner. She is also part of Stephens Scown’s Resolution Together team, supporting couples who wish to jointly instruct a single lawyer to receive neutral legal advice in relation to divorce and financial matters.

Tyler’s recent experience includes:

• Assisting on a case involving a valuable family company that was largely non-matrimonial in nature, resulting in a significant departure from equality at final hearing and allowing the client to retain ownership of the business.
• Securing a settlement that enabled a client to retain 65% of the available assets on a needs basis following a relatively short marriage where a significant portion of the assets were non-matrimonial.
• Securing a settlement for a vulnerable elderly client that enabled them to retain their home, where there was a significant risk of a sale of the property at final hearing, resulting in a 70:30 division of the assets in their favour.
• Achieving a clean break settlement for a client with substantial pre-marital wealth after a short marriage.
• Achieving a settlement that led to the sale of a farm following a long marriage in order to achieve equality of capital after lengthy proceedings and continued non-engagement by the other party.
• Supporting and advising clients who have experienced domestic abuse, helping them achieve financial security, independence and stability following separation.

Having graduated from the University of Exeter with First Class Honours, Tyler joined Stephens Scown in 2018 and initially worked within the Property and Commercial litigation teams before qualifying as a solicitor in the firm’s Family team.

In addition to her legal practice, Tyler is an elected Trustee at Stephens Scown, acting as an important link between employees and the Board and helping to ensure that colleagues’ views are represented within the firm’s governance structure.

Outside work, Tyler is a keen CrossFitter and enjoys exploring Cornwall with her husband, Jake, and their Golden Retriever, Indy.
