Tyler is a solicitor in the Family team, specialising in the financial aspects of divorce.

After graduating with first class honours from the University of Exeter, Tyler joined Stephens Scown in 2018. Initially working as a Paralegal in the Dispute Resolution team, she obtained a distinction in the LPC before qualifying as a solicitor in the Family team.

Tyler advises clients on all aspects of divorce and finances and has a varied case load, to include cases concerning high net worth individuals, substantial and complex business assets, discretionary trusts and public sector pensions. In particular, Tyler is often involved in cases involving family businesses and has specialist knowledge of the particular issues that often arise in such cases.

Tyler is a member of Resolution, an association of family lawyers committed to resolving family matters in a constructive and non-confrontational way. Tyler is also part of the Resolution Together team at Stephens Scown, supporting cases where couples jointly instruct one lawyer together to provide neutral advice in relation to divorce and financial matters.

Tyler’s experience has seen her work on numerous matters, including:

  • Achieving a financial settlement which resulted in the client securing 65% of the assets on a needs basis after a relatively short marriage with a significant non-matrimonial element.
  • Achieving a clean break settlement for a client with substantial pre-marital capital assets, after a short marriage.
  • Assisting on a matter involving a valuable family company which was largely non-matrimonial in nature, where we achieved a substantial departure from equality in his favour at final hearing which enabled him to retain the company.
  • Achieving a settlement which resulted in the sale of the husband’s farm after a very long marriage to achieve equality of capital following lengthy proceedings where the husband was not engaging with the process. Advising clients through the divorce process who have been the victim of domestic abuse, helping them to regain financial independence and freedom.

Tyler is also a strong advocate for the benefits of non-court dispute resolution (NCDR) in achieving settlements for divorcing couples in a cost-effective way and limiting unnecessary animosity wherever possible.

A trustee at Stephens Scown, Tyler acts as a key link between employees and the Board in representing the employee voice.

Outside of work Tyler is a keen CrossFitter and enjoys going for long walks with her fiancé Jake and Golden Retriever, Indy.
