If all those with parental responsibility for a child agree that the name of the child should be changed, a change of name deed can be prepared and completed to effect that change. However, in the event that there is a disagreement, an application can be made to court for the child’s name to be changed. In making their decision, the Court’s paramount consideration will be the child’s best interests.
