He has passed the Royal Town Planning Institute examinations. Ian was born in Scotland and has an MA in Economics and Jurisprudence from Dundee University. He is a Director of the Cornish Chamber of Mines and Minerals and a Director of the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is also a Member of the CBI Minerals Committee. He appears as an advocate in Planning Inquiries and in the Lands Tribunal and appears in the Magistrates' Court in connection with planning and environmental prosecutions. Outside of the office Ian enjoys playing tennis and sailing.
