Thousands of postage stamps collected over 20 years have been unearthed and given to a regional charity to help raise funds.
Six bankers' boxes full of postage stamps which had been carefully cut out were kept in storage our St Austell office by one of our former partners. Following his retirement, staff passed the collection onto Children's Hospice South West for them to sort and select any valuable or unusual specimens.
We at Stephens Scown support the work of the charity on a regular basis and have been involved in fundraising for Children's Hospice South West across all its offices in St Austell, Truro and Exeter.
Partner Ian Lamond (pictured) said: "We know that over the years quite a bit of money has been raised for the charity through the donation of stamps. We're delighted to be able to pass these onto such a worthy cause, so they can be put to good use and raise even more funds for Children's Hospice South West."
Children's Hospice South West is the only organisation in the region providing specialist hospice care for families with life-limited children. Through its hospices - Little Bridge House in North Devon, Charlton Farm in North Somerset, and eventually Little Harbour in Cornwall - the charity offers a range of respite, palliative, emergency, and end of life care and vital support to families.
Emma Lloyd Children's Hospice South West Head of Fundraising (West) added: "We are very grateful to Stephens Scown for donating this mammoth collection of stamps and, although it will take some sorting, I'm sure our expert will really enjoying delving into this treasure trove!
"Thank you to Stephens Scown also for all their ongoing support. As a regional charity we rely very much upon the generosity of the people of the South West, and donating postage stamps is just one of many ways you can help."
Stephens Scown, with offices in St Austell, Truro, and Exeter, is ranked in the top tier for legal services in the South West in both the Legal 500 and Chambers guides to the legal profession. For more information visit www.stephens-scown.co.uk or call 01726 74433.
