Business owners who are targeting growth are being invited to find out more about equity finance at a re-run of a popular seminar next month.
'Here be dragons - mapping out a route to equity finance' is co-hosted by Stephens Scown, accountants Winter Rule and SWAIN - the South West Angel and Investor Network, which connects private investors with companies looking for investment.
The breakfast seminar was first run in Truro last month as one of Winter Rule's Cornwall Professional Briefings and proved so popular that it is being staged again at Stephens Scown's Exeter office on Tuesday, March 9 from 8am to 10am.
Stephens Scown's corporate finance partner James Orpin said: "Clearly, institutional lending has been harder to come by and with interest rates where they are, private investors are looking for better returns. It's therefore a perfect storm when it comes to financing growth through equity. We've seen a real increase in interest in equity investment so this seminar has proved very timely."
Richard Wadman, director in Winter Rule's corporate finance team, said: "The last seminar was over-subscribed because we limit numbers to 20 to make sure delegates get the most out of the event. Given the positive feedback we received and increasing interest in Business Angel finance, we had no hesitation organising a re-run."
The event is based around short presentations from a team of professional advisers, followed by a discussion over breakfast.
Winter Rule and Stephens Scown will examine the financial and legal aspects of equity finance, while SWAIN investment director Bruce Colley will look at how and when to approach Business Angels including what aspects of presentations to potential investors score well, and those that do not.
