Guidance for 2010 business rates revaluation
The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) is undertaking its 5 yearly revaluation of business rates for all business and non-domestic property in England and Wales.
The revised draft rating list is now available online. During October the VOA notified ratepayers of the new rateable values, and gave them the opportunity to check their details before local authorities calculate and issue the new rates bills in early 2010.
This is an opportunity to check that your business is paying the correct amount in business rates well in advance of the new bills being issued. This is the first year this information has been available to business owners online and the VOA website tries to make the process as quick and easy as possible. Ratepayers can compare their details with other similar properties and the valuation should clearly show the details of the property including the value applied to each area of the property.
