Bulgarian and Romanian Nationals

If you are a Bulgarian or Romanian national, you are free to come to the UK to live. You will need to be able to support yourself and your family in the UK without help from public funds.

If you want to work as an employee in the UK you will need to obtain the permission of the UK Border Agency. Once you have been working legally in the UK as an employee for 12 months continuously you will then gain full rights of free movement and will no longer need permission to work in the UK.

You may be exempt from requiring permission to work in the UK so please contact the Immigration Team at Stephens Scown to find out where you stand.
