European Community Association Agreement ECAA Ankara Agreement

The ECAA with Turkey allows nationals of Turkey the right to have their application to establish themselves in business in the UK considered under more favourable immigration rules than those in force when the UK joined the EU on 1 January 1973. This is known as the ‘standstill clause'.

A Turkish national who is legally in the UK in another immigration category may apply to stay under this clause. There are also certain rights that Turkish nationals who are already legally working in the UK may apply for further leave to continue working. We can assist with applications by those seeking to establish themselves in business or those already legally working in the UK.
