The impact of wind energy on UK energy dependence and resilience report commissioned by RenewableUK also highlights the importance of wind power in mitigating the UK’s exposure to rises in gas prices.

In commenting upon the report Rob Norris from Renewables UK mentions that ‘energy policy is a long term game’ with ‘a rich energy mix so then you do not put all your eggs into one basket’. He also added ‘ if you have different technologies, including renewables, competing against each other then the cost is driven down for the consumer

The report is good news for those in the renewable sector.  We need to make the most of the full energy mix and wind power is certainly a key player,” comments Mike Rowe, Renewable Energy consultant at Stephens Scown.  “We work with businesses across the South West region from landowners and community energy projects to developers on all aspects of energy projects.  The South West has a real appetite for developing renewable technologies.”
