The recent Family Justice Review has highlighted concerns about delays in care proceedings. Very Vulnerable Children are involved in such proceedings and delay really matters to them and affects their lives.
It is clear that strong and robust case management will be expected in care proceedings. Judges will be given additional training and support nationwide best practice will be identified. The Review recommended that legislation should be passed to provide a six month time limit for completion of Care and Supervision Order cases.
All of which means that there will be increased pressure for cases to be progressed through the court to avoid delay in the best interests of the child.
