Lawyer wins outstanding contribution award

Alison Nichollls, based in our St Austell Office, has picked up a top accolade at the Cornwall Law Society’s annual awards.

Alison is a partner and residential property team leader, received the Outstanding Contribution Award for 2011 at a prestigious dinner on Friday 25 February at the Hotel Bristol in Newquay.

The awards celebrate individuals and firms that have made a significant contribution to the legal and local community in Cornwall. Alison was chosen for showing excellence in her field, having the highest professional standards and going above and beyond the call of duty to benefit the community.

Alison said: “I was absolutely delighted to receive such a hotly contested award by the Cornwall Law Society, and it’s fantastic to be recognised by my peers, who themselves, have done an outstanding job of promoting the quality of the legal profession in Cornwall.”

Robert Camp, joint managing partner, added: “Alison is exceptionally dedicated to the profession and I am very pleased to see her work being recognised in this way. The quality of all the winners also goes to show that you don’t need to look elsewhere for the best legal advice, when the law profession is thriving here in Cornwall.”

Also scooping an award at the dinner was The Key Network, which won the coveted title of Law Firm for 2011.

The Key Network was formed by property solicitors from around the county who recognised that by working closer together, and improving links with estate agents, they could help to streamline the house buying process and make purchases more likely to succeed.

President of the Cornwall Law Society Tim Goldblum said that it was Alison’s active involvement in The Key Network which swung the vote in her favour: “She has listened to 20 other member firms of The Key Network, assimilated their views and revised legal forms agreeable to all the firms within the network. It is for this hard work and dedication that Alison has won the award for Outstanding Contribution of the Year.”
